Radiography Level 3
PREREQUISITE: Registrants must have successfully completed a Level 2 Radiography course
in accordance with CGSB or SNT-TC-1A.
TRAINING OBJECTIVES: This course is intended to present the necessary information as a
foundation on which to build a successful management career in Radiography. CGSB defines Level
3 personnel as, "fully qualified personnel who are able to assume full responsibility for an
NDE test facility and staff".
COURSE OUTLINE:
- Establishing correct techniques to ensure proper inspection of the part.
- Interpreting specifications and codes, designating the particular test methods and
techniques to be used, and interpreting the results.
- Interpreting radiographs and evaluating specimens in accordance with
applicable acceptance standards. Sufficient knowledge in applicable materials technology
is necessary to assist in establishing tests and acceptance criteria where none are otherwise
available.
- Initiating and assigning radiographic projects.
- Exercising responsibility for the instruction and supervision of personnel in the correct
and safe use of radiographic equipment.
- Exercising responsibility for the interpretation and implementation of all pertinent
regulations concerning radiation safety.
- Knowledge of theory and operation of equipment.
- Recommendations for the purchase of new equipment.
- General familiarity with other commonly used nondestructive test methods.
NOTE: Participants are requested to have a calculator capable of scientific notation.
Safety shoes are mandatory for all laboratory work.
